In-Home ABA Therapy in Frederick, Maryland

You have options for ABA in Frederick, and several of them are large companies operating in multiple states. It is worth knowing what is different here before you choose.

Applied Behavior and Learning Consultants is a small practice. It was founded in 2017 by Dr. Angela Hess, a doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst who is still clinically involved in the programs we run. When you call, you are not routed to an intake center in another state.

We come to you!

Programs are built for your child rather than assembled from a template. We keep the same technicians with the same families wherever we can, because progress depends on the relationship as much as the procedure. And because we work in your home and community, the skills your child learns are practiced where they actually need them, at the table, in the car, and at the store.

Frederick County towns we serve

We work with families in the city of Frederick and across the county, including Urbana, Walkersville, Middletown, Thurmont, Brunswick, Emmitsburg, New Market, Myersville, Woodsboro, Ijamsville, Jefferson, Point of Rocks, and Libertytown.

Ages and services

We serve children from birth through age 21, as well as adults. Services include skill acquisition programming, behavior reduction, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plan development, parent and caregiver training, IEP development and advocacy, and BCBA supervision. Every program is supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Questions worth asking any provider

Choosing an ABA provider is difficult, and most of the information available to parents is marketing. If you are comparing several practices in Frederick, these are the questions we would ask in your position, of us as much as anyone else.

  • Who supervises my child’s program, and how often will I actually see them? Supervision hours vary widely between providers, and the answer tells you a lot.

  • What happens if my technician leaves? Turnover is the reality of this field. What matters is whether the practice has a plan for continuity or simply sends someone new.

  • How will you involve me? Parent training should be part of the program from the start, not something offered once progress stalls.

  • What does progress look like, and when will we review it? You should expect specific, measurable goals and a scheduled point at which they are revisited.

Insurance

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Cigna, and we accept Maryland Medicaid, out-of-network, and private pay.
